Country Life Fair Grand Ball
As one of the charitable causes that Country Life Magazine is supporting, we were very kindly invited to have a presence at the Country Life Fair Grand Ball at the Natural History Museum on September 10th, and were honoured to meet Prince Michael of Kent.
Taking a scale model of the original Britannia that we have had on show in the K1 Britannia shop, we had a table close to the bar and were able to tell many of the 1,800 guests at the ball about our project to complete the build of Britannia and to gift her to charities worldwide.
Country Life Fair patron Prince Michael of Kent visited our table, met our director Scott Ward and our friend Jamie Linen and spoke of photographs he has of George V sailing on Britannia. The Prince also spoke with our invited guest Eve Branson, mother of Sir Richard, who is photographed here with Amie Hill from K1 Britannia, Jamie Linen and Prince Michael of Kent.
Our supporter Lady Sally Grylls, mother of Bear Grylls, met Eve Branson and was photographed with our director Scott Ward. It was a glittering black tie occasion with fabulous dresses being worn by all the ladies, and the gentlemen looking resplendent in evening dress – some in kilts and uniforms.
The Ball was opened by Prince Michael of Kent, who gave a speech from the stage that was at the foot of the stairs in the grand atrium, overlooking the huge dinosaur skeleton. Sister Sledge and T’Pau wowed the crowds along with other live musicians and DJs and there were casino tables and a fashion show with dancing until midnight.
