Country Life Fair
We had a shop at the inaugural Country Life Fair at Fulham Palace, which was held over the weekend of September 27th and 28th.
It was an ideal opportunity to tell a lot of new people all about our project and many of our friends and supporters came to see us too. Here are Sir David Roche, Lucinda Gee and Robin Arbuthnot.
We sold a few items from the K1 Britannia shop – our new caps have been very popular and our maritime antiques are always of interest to those who visit us. Many more people stopped by to hear about our plans to complete the build of Britannia and to gift her to charities worldwide.
This was the first Country Life Fair and Fulham Palace was the ideal location, with a large marquee in the grounds full of stalls selling everything from rocking horses to Range Rovers. There was a Gin competition and restaurants selling smoked salmon, caviar, guinea fowl and venison hot dogs! We were ideally placed right next to one of the food outlets and the Brown Cow Bar, which was a draw for visiting guests.
Within the Walled Garden was an arena for various displays and Ben Fogle gave the opening address here. Next to this was the Food Hall, hosting cookery demonstrations from celebrity chefs and food producers such as Alex James from Blur who is now a renowned cheese maker. On a stage within the grand marquee gardening celebrities such as Cleve West and the Gardeners World stars gave tips on how to grow the most gorgeous gardens.
We had a lot of interest in K1 Britannia and our plans to gift her to charities worldwide. Lots of people signed up to become ‘Friends of K1 Britannia’. Don’t forget to join if you haven’t already – just scroll down to the bottom of our website front page and fill in the form on the left.
